Terms and conditions

Last updated: June 27th, 2026.

1. What Matchplay is and who runs it

Matchplay is a platform connecting people interested in playing board games at in-person meetups. We don't organize the sessions: each user creates their own table or joins someone else's. The service is free. The owner and controller of Matchplay is César Augusto Berroterán Yanes, a private individual resident in Spain. You can reach us at [email protected] or via the contact page.

2. Requirements to use Matchplay

To register you must be at least 16 years old and legally able to accept these terms. Matchplay is for personal, non-commercial use. By creating an account you confirm that the information you provide is truthful and that you are a real person.

3. Your account and security

You need an email-verified account to create sessions or join. You're responsible for keeping your password safe and for all activity from your account. Let us know as soon as possible if you think someone has accessed it without your permission.

4. Code of conduct and acceptable use

You agree to show up to the tables you join, give notice in advance if you can't make it, and treat other players with respect. The reliability system penalizes no-shows and late cancellations. The following is prohibited: harassing, threatening or discriminating against other users; sending spam or advertising; impersonating someone else; using the platform for unlawful purposes; automated data extraction (scraping); attempting to access other people's systems or accounts; reverse-engineering the app; or reselling or commercially exploiting the service.

5. Content and intellectual property

The platform, its code, its design and the Match&Play brand belong to its owner. The content you post (your bio, chat messages, the sessions you create) remains yours; by posting it you grant us a limited licence to display it within the service so the app can work. You are responsible for the content you share.

6. Suspension and account closure

We may suspend or close accounts that breach these terms, abuse the reliability system or harm other users. You can close your account at any time from your profile; when you do, we delete or anonymize your data as explained in the privacy policy.

7. Limitation of liability

Matchplay enables contact between players but does not take part in or supervise the in-person meetups. What happens at a specific table is the responsibility of the people taking part. The service is provided “as is”, with no guarantee of uninterrupted availability. To the extent permitted by law, we are not liable for damages arising from use of the platform or from other users' conduct. Nothing in these terms limits liability that cannot be excluded by law.

8. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless the owner of Matchplay from any claim, damage or expense (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your misuse of the platform, your breach of these terms, or your infringement of third-party rights.

9. Governing law and disputes

These terms are governed by Spanish law. The courts of Spain shall have jurisdiction over any dispute. If you are a consumer, you keep the rights granted by the law of your place of residence and may use the European online dispute resolution platform.

10. Changes to these terms

If we update these terms we will notify you by email and a notice in the app. Changes take effect when published. If you do not agree with the new version, you can close your account from your profile.
